White House Chicken

White House Chicken has served the citizens of Wadsworth, Ohio, since it was opened in 1942. And it has been a local favorite for people who want to enjoy a nice fast food meal if they are not interested in cooking at home for dinner.

All of that changed when the entire state of Ohio had to go on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic and unfortunately the restaurant had no choice but to close down until the state would allow them to reopen.

"That span of about two to three months was really tough for us because we had to all the sudden stop with what we were doing and just hope for the best that we could get out of this situation with our business still intact," said Jacob Law, who is a fry cook at White House.

For those months that the restaurant was in lockdown, they wondered what they could do to keep the business going during these rough circumstances. One of the employees had an idea to help make money during the pandemic.

"One of the things that I came up with was telling a friend about what was going on and that friend agreed that they would start a fundraiser for us to make sure that we had the ability to stay open," said the cashier Lucas Long.

Because of that fundraiser, the restaurant was able to make money while they were closed. Since the state of Ohio has allowed restaurants to reopen, White House has been able to enjoy the success provided to them by generous people.
