Will McGrath: The story of my life

 Past

My first interactions with social media that I can remember specifically were through video games, computer games, and apps on my mom or dad's iPhone 1. I first remember playing with the app titled Super Gerbil on my dad's iPhone 1 and other games such as Angry Birds and Plant's versus Zombies. Then my parents bought me a Wii in 2008 which I used to play video games like Super Mario Galaxy, Lego Batman, Lego Star Wars, and Lego Indiana Jones which helped me connect with my friends by bringing them over to play the games with me. Then when I bought a PS3 (Playstation 3), it allowed for me to buy new types of games such as call of duty, Assassins Creed, FIFA, NBA 2K, and Maddon which gave me the ability to connect with my friends and other people through my headset and it gave me the opportunity to meet new people.



                                                               


  

Present

If you were to compare my past self with me today, I would say that I have become even more connected with social media and the updates of different types of technology that help me connect with modern-day society. When I got into middle school, I got myself a Twitter account so that way I would be able to connect and follow up with what my friends are thinking at the moment whether that be something on the news or just what their exact thoughts are. The same can be said for Instagram and Snapchat which have helped me to see what my friends are doing at the moment while also having the ability for me to connect with some of my favorite celebrities and it has allowed me to better understand who they are when the cameras are not on them.

I also still play video games but some things have changed from my past self. For one thing, I do not play with the Wii anymore and I have bought myself a PS4 (Playstation 4) and play new games such as Fortnite, Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto, and Borderlands. But I still play some games that I played in the past such as Call of Duty, FIFA, NBA 2K, and Madden. I have also been able to meet even more friends through connecting with other people with my headset and through Youtube where I have been a part of some YouTuber's live stream videos.

In fact, just recently I decided to put some videos on my own YouTube channel with different types of content such as video game commentary, sports commentary, and news coverage on what the big news stories are and then giving my opinion's on those particular news stories. I downloaded TikTok to and I have enjoyed scrolling on the app and looking at what other people have posted on their accounts. I also had to focus a lot on Zoom due to the fact that we are in a pandemic and for my late freshman and my whole sophomore year I had to use it to keep up with my classes when we met in person. I have set up a blog for myself so that way I can practice for my future career which is to become a sports journalist. 

Future

For the future, I will probably be using my blog a lot because I will probably have to report on a few stories that will require me to use it. I also will have to use my social media accounts such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok more often than my past and present self because it is very important for journalists to keep up with their social media accounts and their followers on what is going on in the world and to also share my personal side with my followers so that way they can know who I am besides knowing me for my specific career.

I will also continue to play video games in the future and I will still use them to connect with more people throughout the world. I am also still interested in some of the gaming franchises that I have played in the past and present and I want to continue with them through new stories and adventures while also enjoying the new upgrades that they have to offer to me. I also plan on continuing to post new videos on my YouTube channel so I can get new subscribers and have more people enjoy the content that I create for them.

Finally, Linkedin will also play an important part in my life as well when I am searching for what job opportunities are available to me in the field of journalism and Linkedin will also help me to connect with employers of that company who would help me out in getting the job that I want and if the job that I would be interested in doesn't work out. I could put down the job interviews that I have had on my Linkedin account which would increase my chances of getting another interview with a different company which will increase my chances of getting a job for myself and if I were to be let go. Then I would put down on my Linkedin the previous place that I worked which will further increase my chances of being hired again.

Riots in France challenge French President Emmanuel Macron’s pension plan for the country.

Working class Frenchmen staged a massive protest across France in response to President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to pass a divisive bill that would increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 without a vote from the French Parliament.  The move infuriated the country as 234 people were arrested overnight in Paris with smaller protest taking place in other cities around France which resulted in some degenerating into violence late Monday. A series of political meetings on Tuesday planned by President Macron will have the prime minister, parliamentary leaders and lawmakers from his political party, President Macron is also expected to give a nationally televised speech on Wednesday – the first time since he passed the law to try and explain why he passed such a bill.
